Text over Photo tutorial

I found a tutorial and wanted to try it out. Instead of just copying and pasting that tutorial to the blog, I decided to write down what I did in the simplest way possible, and i will show the starting photo and my end result.
This is my starting point. I shall tell you what I did from here.

  • open the picture you want to manipulate.
  • open a new layer.
  • select the text tool.
  • set font size. (mine is 600 pt.)
  • set font. (mine is Pristina.)
  • your text will be black. change blend to overlay.
  • command or ctrl click the text layer thumbnail.
  • click the "create new layer" button.
  • copy the background image layer.
  • click and drag the background copy above the text layer.
  • click and drag the text mask (the thing you made when you clicked the text thumbnail and made a new layer) and put the text mask with the background copy.
  • select brush tool. use white as color.
  • set brush size. (mine is 500.)
  • paint over the bottom of the photo to the bottom of the text.
  • you can delete the background image if you want.
  • right click "create new fill or adjustment layer"
  • select "solid color".
  • choose what color you want. (mine is a white-ish color.)
  • flatten your image.
  • save your image as a jpeg.
This is my end result! This was really fun to do, and I hope you guys try it!
